If you live in Chicago, you would come over and look through the three museum collections assembled from all over the world and all different periods. Individual pieces and colors will speak to you. I can reproduce a piece directly, or I can add or subtract elements creating mish-mosh. The process usually takes about two hours to finalize a design.

After you and your rabbi complete the fill-in information, I calligraphy the entire text in Hebrew, start to finish, for a perfectly spaced, seamless text. I have six different texts to chose from, one Orthodox, one Conservative, two Egalitarian Reform, one Interfaith, and one Anniversary.

A long distance collaboration is not so different from being in my Chicago living-room, although you must to do a little leg work on your own to find some of the museum collections, either at the library or Borders. After you have mulled over the pictures, would talk over the phone to come up with a design that incorporates your unique tastes and ideas. We would then fax or send the texts and fill-in forms, just as we usually do here; and I would send the finished piece to you by insured UPS or FedEx.
